Layers of Connection is a conceptual poster exploring communication beyond language. Bringing together English, Arabic and Braille, the project investigates how design can create connection across cultures and abilities. Universal design principles guided the work, placing accessibility and inclusivity at the centre of the visual system.
Research into the structure and production of Braille informed the design process. A dot-based grid was developed from the Braille system to organise all three languages within a shared composition. Exploring embossing, letterpress and die-cut production revealed the practical limitations of large-scale Braille printing, which directly shaped the final outcome.
The poster is produced as two die-cut layers on soft matte paper, encouraging touch and interaction. A short prose text is combined with a flowing graphic pattern inspired by frozen water paths, reflecting how cultural connections develop over time. A restrained palette of orange, silver-grey and white keeps the focus on material, typography and interaction.
